Germany - Fly from UL Flugfeld Gossenheim (EXHB) to UL Flugplatz Brakel (EDZY).
Gossenheim/Karsbach to Brakel. While these towns aren't names that you recognize, or roll easy off of western tongues, once you get in the air, you will find yourself remembering the area! Lush green rolling hills, stunning old world architecture with grass airstrips everywhere just illustrates that Germans take their aviation seriously. You will be taking off in Bavaria, the region of Germany known for it's beer, a famous Automobile manufacturer and it's people who pride themselves in their independence, sort of like Texas in the US with lederhosen instead of cowboy boots. Look east after departure to spot the "Main" river rolling through an eye catching valley before heading north to finally land in a magnificent, sculpted grass airstrip nestled in some hills just north of Brakel. If you have time, throw out your drone to get some EPIC photos of the Hercules Statue/Octagon near Kassel (Look for the observation tower atop the hill and it is just to the east).
There are a group of substantial trees on the west end of the airstrip threshold on runway 08, which is already on a downhill landing in an area known for swirling winds. This just may be one of the toughest landings you will face if the wind isn't cooperating for a runway 26 approach. "Auf wiedersehen mutiger Flieger!"
