I have a theory about the unique to New Zealand bird called the Kiwi that can't fly. I am convinced that years ago, the ancestors of the Kiwi saw Gorge River Airstrip, and decided "Nope! I'm good." For those of us that won't be dissuaded however, we are in for a challenge. Narrow strip? Check. Short? Check. Treacherous setting? Check. But...Gorgeous and satisfying? You betcha. Tame this beast and land softly to proudly display your achievement of courage like the tattoos of the Maori.
