Martin Leonard LANDFRIED (1834-1902)

Martin's claim to fame is because of his bugle playing ability and other musical traits.

It wasn't until I saw Nexus03's achievement of 'The Trooper' and reading the story behind the character that prompted this synergy between Nexus03 and me (Nexus04). This character being about the Charge of the Light Brigade at the Battle of Balaclava 1854, which took place during the Crimean War, a song by Iron Maiden.

Martin Leonard LANDFRIED was a solder during that time and was part of this famous Charge. Infact he was the bugler that sounded the Charge order on October 25, 1854. He survived the war and returned to the UK and lived to the age of 68. He married a girl named Josephine Barnes and had a son named George Landfried. George married a girl named Beatrice Dodd and had a daughter named Edna Landfried. Edna married a boy named William Adams where one of their sons is named Gordon Adams. Yes, Martin Leonard LANDFRIED is my Great Grandfather (on my Mother's side).
