Achievement Leg 16: Week 16 at Denver Broncos (December 16, 1978)

Background:

⦁ In week 16, two of the league's top defenses clash in Denver as the Steelers and their Steel Curtain take on the Broncos’ Orange Crush Defense. In the first quarter, the Steelers scored first on a Franco Harris touchdown to put them up 7-0. Throughout the first half, the Broncos failed to put up any points at all against the Steeler defense and Pittsburgh scored 2 more passing touchdowns from Terry Bradshaw to put them up 21-0 at halftime.

⦁ In the third quarter, the Broncos scored a 25 yard touchdown from a Haven Moses catch to make it 21-7. The second half became a different story for the Steelers offense as they failed to put up a single point. In the fourth quarter, the Broncos clawed their back within 4 points on a Jim Turner field goal and Riley Odoms touchdown to make it 21-17.

⦁ At the end of the fourth quarter, the Steel Curtain held and the Steelers ended the regular season at 14-2 with home-field advantage in the playoffs.
