Achievement Leg 6: Week 6 vs Atlanta Falcons (October 8, 1978)

Background:

⦁ For week 6, the Steelers return home to Three Rivers Stadium to host the 2-3 Atlanta Falcons. Starting in the first quarter, the Steelers kicked a 21 yard field goal from Roy Gerela to put them up 3-0 and never looked back. Until the 4th quarter, the Steel Curtain shut down Atlanta’s offense and the Pittsburgh offense rolled through the opposing defense as Rocky Bleier, Terry Bradshaw, and John Stallworth all scored touchdowns.

⦁ Atlanta avoided the shoutout in the 4th after a Wallace Francis receiving touchdown but it didn’t matter as the Steelers dominated with a 31-7 and the team is now 6-0.
