Great Divide 01 PAIW to PAOM

This is a virtual airline achievement created by Fliggity Air.

Look up, look waaaaay up to the north and you'll find the city of Wales in Alaska with a population of 145. This is where you'll be starting this epic journey, the city which marks the westernmost point of the American mainland. In 2011 they experienced the Bearing Sea superstorm with wind gusts up to 143km/h (89m/h or 77kts) - hopefully it's not that bad when you depart!

You'll be arriving at the Nome airport to end this leg. The city is located on the southern Seward Peninsula coast on Norton Sound of the Bearing Sea. It's likely to be very cold here as Nome has a subarctic climate with long, very cold, winters.

Criteria

Depart from PAIW, fly to and land at PAOM (95 NM).

  • VAN'S RV-14 (RV14)
  • Cirrus SR-22 (SR22)
  • Camair 480 Twin Navion (TNAV)
