Kitty Hawk, North Carolina is world-famous for having been the site of the first powered flight, made by the brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright.

The first successful powered flight took place on December 17, 1903 when pilot Orville Wright and the brothers' Wright Flyer flew 120 feet from a small beach-front hill in what is now considered to be Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina - a flight that lasted only 12 seconds, but showed that powered flight was possible.

There is now a small airport located near the site of the Wright Brothers' first flight, appropriately named First Flight Airport (KFFA).

Thanks to today's technology, we are able to virtually visit the very place the Wright Brothers made this historical and revolutionary flight!
