Formed after the purchase of UK regional airline Nationways in 2018, the low-cost airline Internation rose to prominence after the COVID-19 pandemic began to ease and travel once again opened up. Internation successfully captured the booming market at the pandemic's end, beginning with flights from Birmingham to Ibiza using A319s recently retired and sold off by other airlines.
Beginning with the goal of being a truly eco-conscious airline, Internation was founded upon the principles of drastically altering airline operations to become more sustainable. As part of this, the airline does not operate domestic travel and instead operates a ground-based subsidiary to handle short-distance journies. Today, the airline is more traditional in its operation, but the use of an interlinked transport network on the ground and the use of next-generation aircraft means it is still one of the more environmentally friendly airlines.
Now a European airline based in Leipzig, Germany, Internation has expanded to become a conglomerate of more sustainable transport options. Its upcoming hydrogen and SAF-powered subsidiary ENVYRO is set to revolutionise air travel and provide a premium service with an industry-leading reduction in carbon emissions.
